Centurion Chambers aims to offer facilities which cater to the specific needs of Advocates at an affordable and reasonable price.

Advocates practicing from Centurion Chambers are registered members of the Legal Practice Council and are subject to the regulatory provisions thereof. All tenants may be members of any Advocates Association at their discretion.

Centurion Chambers only offers offices to rent to individuals who have undergone a pupillage program as accredited by the Legal Practice Act 28 of 2014, and this includes any programs which may be accredited by the Council under section 112 of the Act.

 

Members who wish to rent an office at Centurion Chambers and who were previously members of a bar association must have left such an association in good standing. Centurion Chambers reserves the right to cancel an agreement with any tenant who may be disciplined by the Legal Practice Council for transgressing the code of conduct for Legal Practitioners practising as advocates.

As a result, the offices are offered at a fair and stable price, fixed by contract and market related, while the tenants still enjoy the traditional advantages of advocates chambers.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Must tenants be associated with an Advocate’s Association?

It is not a requirement that tenants be associated with an Advocates Association, but any Tenant must be properly enrolled under the auspices of the Legal Practice Council as a Legal Practitioner Practicing as an Advocate.

May tenants be members of an Advocates Association?

Yes.

May a tenant admitted as an advocate under the old act, who did not complete a pupillage program take-up chambers at Centurion Chambers? 

No. All prospective tenants must have completed an accredited vocational training program, and have written an admission examination to be part of an accredited Advocates Association.

What is included in the office rent?

A personal office, refreshments (tea and coffee), uncapped internet (fibre), a receptionist, printing facilities, cleaning services and consultation facilities, as well as secure parking.
